Mouri Motonari
(Ko-Bizen Tomonari)
Mouri Motonari, Hokinokuni Yasutana and Sanjyo Kokaji were perhaps the three finest swordsmiths of their times in Japan. These national treasures which was donated to the Itsukushim Shrine by Noto -no-Kami Tsuneyori one of the most powerful soldiers of Heike. Also the Uguisama Tomonari which was inherited by the Tsushima family. These swords are very famous. Mouri Motonari loved his swords. The hamon (blade) is narrowed a narrowed mihaba (width of blade), and a ko-choji midare (clove shape hamon pattern) mixed with ko-midare (small pattern hamon). Sometimes it looks like a suguha (straight hamon).
