Kondo Isami
In his childhood he was known as Katsuta or Katsugoro . He was the commander of the Shinsen-gumi, and worked under Police Chief Matsudaira. Matsudaira was the in charge of the Kyoto region. Kondo Isamu became well known after the Ikedaya incident. Shortly after that he served the Tokugawa Shogunate,and was promoted to local Police Chief. In the first year of Meiji he was executed in Itabashi. His favorite sword is said to have been made by Nakasone Okisato Nyudo Kotetsu.
